I am starting my internship Monday and getting kinda nervous. On my offer letter it stated that I am going to be doing the following
-Support deal team in any research and execution efforts related to thesis development, deal execution, or portfolio company management
-Utilize research methods to track and analyze investment preferences and backgrounds of the firm's existing and prospective investor base; keep such preferences up to date in firm database
-Work on other relevant projects within the firm as they arise
This is what the last intern put on his/her resume
-Supported the deal team with due diligence for potential acquisition targets by performing industry research, market-sizing, preparing materials for meetings with business partners and researching leadership of target companies
* Reviewed CIM's to analyze likely investments and conducted LBO analysis to affirm potential acquisitions met return hurdles
* Created decks for marketing purposes to assist Founding Partners and VP's to use in the pitching process to investors
* Constructed a primer as part of strategic planning for the use of a portfolio company in the trucking and logistics industry
So, how do I prepare for this type of work? I would like a return offer at this firm and really want to impress my managers
